Week 21 - Off the ehhh...

Yeah I really need to work out where I stand with this current project...

Like so far this weeks seems like a hit and a miss. Admitidly I have been spending most of this week preparing a base mesh in Zbrush to push my skills in working with Z brush whilst still maintian a sense of contact for off the map however this model was made primarily for study purposes.

Still its not a total loss as this model is being adapted into the base sculpt for a few bust sculpt set peices for the project. So when I say hit and miss sometimes I find myself completley disintereseted in the project due to its heavy environmennt art background however when given task such as concepting and designing two busts for the project then I start to feel that sense of excitement I felt during the sentry gun and character project.

Anyway overall progress on the project has been standard I would like to say I dont know how the rest of my group feel.

I have made a start on tow basic prop pieces a rowing boat and a boulder, which now just need to be textured via a diffuse since they have a normal baked from a high poly.

With these bust I attempted to be as playful to represent the supernatural elements of the play . These bust concepts are intended to be the busts of prospero and Caliban that will be found within the island as set pieces for the player to view.

My main sources of inspiration for these bust concepts are surrealist artworks specifically the works of Lucian Stanculescu. I admire the way he contorts the anatomy in his sketches to convey a distorted mood in his works. For the sake to the project I would like to reflect this in my concepts.

Anyway this is week 21. I really do hope I start to pick up steam with this project because so far I've been gaining more out of my own perosnal study than doing off the map which is a shame.
