Video footgage of the film room

Well its finally over. This blog post is just a quick documentation of things that werent mentioned in my post mortem as they we things that were mainly functions/assets that were developed but were cancelled due to time constraints and other factors.

Above is a 3 legged candlestick I modelled for the scene based off of this horredously low quality reference

Modelling the asset posed many problems as a lot of the details were abstracted via the low quality of the image. This was unfortunately the only reference we could capture of said prop. As a result of this I mainly just modelled the asset based on its silhouette. The asset was eventually scrapped from the final scene as we soon found out that we were over tri count and thus said asset was a necessary sacrifice.

Another scrapped feature of our scene was first person controls. I volunteered to work on developing our own control system based off of traditional W A S D mouse controls studying from tutorials which instructed this process. However when implemented in our scene we had found out that for some reason our camera could not look upwards or downwards. I even seeked help from peers and received their own created control scheme they developed to use as reference.

Friends controls scheme

Even this as reference we still found that we were unable to look up or down within the scene. If we had more time this would have been something I would have like to refine however we were pressed for time trying to make sure the scene looked like our reference.

Finally I would like to present the intial storyboard I sketched for the matinee.

.This storyboard was unused as it was planned when I believed our matinee would feature cuts and transitions like a cinematic feature. Although this was not used, it was nice getting back into sketching scenes in perspective. It was much needed practise and pushed my thought process of composing a still.
