After 4 of these so far it may look like it’s going to be a common thing on my Blog (sorry about that)
Anyway this I attempted to I lose some rust in prep for the character project looming over in the shadows. I spent some of my time studying edge loops in the face as well as strip modelling a face. Emphasis on attempted however as I failed, failed and failed again. Ohhh boy it was a struggle but nonetheless I did learn a few things from such a stressful experience.

So this one is a bit funny because I feel as if the older iteration is a much stronger plan than the newer one. However I must stress that the older plan doesn’t actually match up with the side view. This was something I shouldn’t have disregarded as when I attempted to strip model this, this gave me much more work and problems to deal with in the Max Scene.

It’s not clearly illustrated in this image but the fact that the side and front plane were different in the planning meant that I would constantly hit bumps in my work flow which would cause me much frustration. Majority of the time I had to use my own judgement to resolve one plane problem which would cause another problem and so on. What this image does show is how much I managed to produce after an hours’ worth of failure on the old model. Moral of the story never underappreciate edge loop planning.
So to correct my mishap I started to attempt to learn how to efficiently plan edge loops by sketching in my sketch book. I attempted to analyse the major loops and see if it is possible to have a stream way plan of sketching these loops.

After doing this a few times I attempted to reproduce what I had learnt as you can see in the before and after Photoshop screenshot. It didn’t go well. I find that there’s something about managing so many shapes confuses my thought process and I really struggle to maintain both the side view and the front view looking similar. From this process I did learn that it is more efficient to have both side view an front view open and work on them both in sync. Other than that I wish to enquire about ways that may aid my learning when it comes to planning edge loops, specifically from tutors and perhaps the older students.
Another thing to note I only just realised when strip modelling its best to have a 4 viewpoint to make sure the perspective view is not skewed. I don’t know why this didn’t click in the first year but now that I’ve got this bit of knowledge under my belt strip modelling isn’t as scary as it used to be.
FINALLY, this is a late entry in the week but I would like to introduce to you………
TYWIN BANISTER!?!?!

Turns out there was an asset missing off of the asset list so I spent the day modelling and unwrapping the thing. I’m going to be honest here after spending weeks modelling I’m really itching to paint/concept something. The closest I’ve got to make something pretty is texturing and it’s not enough…..
I NEED MY FIX!
Edit: I found some free time and painted this image of Rick Sanchez from Ricky and Morty. I think I need to find some time to get back to producing digi painting studies because I really do feel like I need something to break up the constant 3d modelling element of this project.
